- The long and winding road -
Illustrated Portraits are great fun. As with cartoons I need to strike a balance between likeliness and abstraction, making people look better or exaggerating or pointing out certain characteristics for comic relief. The most difficult part is not to force it, it is stressful, but as soon as a drawing reflects that stress to much it becomes ugly. Drawing accurately, and at the same time keep it looking like a walk in the park by not overdoing it.
Here I would like to share some sketches and studies that resulted in a final piece the client liked.
